Bergdahl’s hometown cancels celebration
Associated Press: The small town of Hailey, Idaho, has canceled an event to celebrate the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, citing security concerns after it was inundated with negative emails and angry phone calls.
In a statement, the organizers said that the town, with just 8,000 people, doesn’t have the infrastructure to support a big event.
Bergdahl was captured in Afghanistan in 2009 and freed this weekend.
Questions remain about the events that led to his capture, with some critics calling Bergdahl a deserter.

Is it possible this guy walked off his base and made the alleged comments because he was suffering from acute PTSD?? Is it possible that he suffered some sort of psychotic break? Or “nervous breakdown”?
Because it’s so early, we obviously can’t know. But I think it’s interesting that his former comrades are quick to judge and blame, but there is a distinct possibility that Bergdahl was seriously mentally compromised.
Interesting to see what happens when more information comes out. He’s already been branded a traitor, though. How many people are going to read follow-up stories?
